Arraignment is scheduled for Thursday in a Detroit court for a 17-year-old from Farmington Hills accused of shooting a woman in Detroit last month.
Brandon Butler is charged with first-degree intentional homicide and aggravated battery in connection with the murder of 23-year-old Tavita Hunter. Following a preliminary investigation last week, the case against him was transferred from the 36th District Court to the 3rd Judicial District.
If the case goes to trial, Butler will be tried as an adult.
According to the Wayne County District Attorney's Office, Detroit police were dispatched to the intersection of Cardoni and Robinwood streets on July 13 for a report of a shooting. Hunter was lying on the grass with a gunshot wound to the back and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Butler is said to have shot Hunter after an argument with her escalated, prosecutors said. He then fled the scene.
Judge Kelly Ramsey is scheduled to present the case to the superior court at 9:00 a.m.
