A 77-year-old Mount Prospect woman was killed in a car accident on Tuesday, August 27.
According to Mount Prospect Police, officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Rand Road and Euclid Avenue around 12:20 p.m.
When Arlington Heights and Prospect Heights fire departments arrived, a gray Mazda SUV and a white Kia SUV were in the intersection.
Police said while paramedics were tending to the occupants of the vehicles, the driver of the Kia went into cardiac arrest and life-saving measures were initiated. The driver, later identified as Jacqueline Bridges, 77, of Mount Prospect, was taken to Northwest Community Hospital, where she later died.
The driver of the Mazda, a 29-year-old woman from Des Plaines, and the passenger in her vehicle reported no injuries in the crash, police said.
According to police, the preliminary investigation revealed that Bridges' vehicle was traveling northwest on Rand Road when it collided with a Mazda SUV that was turning left from southeast-bound Rand Road onto eastbound Euclid Road.
This traffic accident is currently being investigated by the Mount Prospect Police Department's Major Crash Investigation Team with assistance from the Major Case Assistance Team's Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) Team.
Portions of Rand Road and Euclid Avenue were closed and reopened around 6:30 p.m. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
