Carson City Sheriff releases information on officer-involved shooting

CARSON CITY, Nev. (KOLO) – The Carson City Sheriff's Office is releasing information about an officer-involved shooting that occurred Wednesday.

On August 28 at approximately 11:00 p.m., Carson City Sheriff's Office officers responded to reports of domestic violence involving a deadly weapon to a mobile home park on Koontz Lane in Carson City.

They say a teenager called 911 and reported that his father had stabbed his mother multiple times, cut himself and was “almost beyond help.”

When the police arrived on the scene, they found the mother with numerous stab wounds. They also discovered that two teenagers had fled the house with the mother to a safe place. Both teenagers were unharmed and in good health.

The mother's injuries were classified as serious; her condition at Renown is stable.

Officers then attempted to contact the suspect but received no response. At around 11:15 p.m., officers entered the home to arrest the suspect. An altercation occurred inside the home and the suspect was shot by two officers and died at the scene.

The officers involved in the police-involved shooting have been placed on leave pending the investigation.
