New Fox News polls in Arizona, Georgia, Nevada and North Carolina show that there is no clear frontrunner in any of these crucial swing states.
Among registered voters, the polls show Vice President Kamala Harris at 50% head-to-head in Arizona to former President Donald Trump's 49%, in Georgia and Nevada to 50% to Trump's 48%, and in North Carolina to 50% to Harris' 49%. Each state poll has a margin of error of plus or minus three points, meaning the poll does not show a clear frontrunner in any of these races.
Please note: In every state, Harris improved President Joe Biden's overall performance over Trump compared to previous Fox polls and also increased her confidence in his ability to handle key issues.
But in all four states, she is still six to nine percentage points behind Trump in terms of confidence in the economic situation. In all four states, the economy is the most important election issue for a majority.
The picture is more mixed when voters are asked which candidate would be better at “fighting for people like you” or “making the change that's needed.” Harris leads in Nevada (51% Harris to 46% Trump), Georgia (50% Harris to 46% Trump), and Arizona (51% Harris to 47% Trump) when it comes to fighting for people like you, while the two are about tied on that score in North Carolina (49% Harris to 48% Trump).
And when it comes to the question of who would be better at bringing about the necessary changes, the two are almost neck and neck in every state (Harris 50% to Trump 47% in Georgia and Nevada, Harris 50% to Trump 48% in Arizona, and Trump 49% to Harris 48% in North Carolina).
According to polls, Democratic Senate candidates are ahead of Republicans in both Arizona and Nevada: Incumbent Democrat Jacky Rosen leads Republican Sam Brown in Nevada, 55% to 41%, and in Arizona, Democrat Ruben Gallego leads Republican Kari Lake, 56% to 41%.
The polls were conducted by telephone and online from August 23 to 26 among about 1,000 voters in each state.
