Squirrel with a gunthe game about squirrels with guns, is coming to PC today, August 29th, and its developers have decided to celebrate by hosting an all-day livestream on their Steam page with real squirrels goofing around. At the time of writing, it's still running, and it's pretty cool.
In case you're out of the loop, Squirrel With A Gun has gone from something that just made for funny Twitter videos a few years ago to something that's actually coming to PC and console now, and it's pretty much what you expected, while also offering some platforming elements you might not be aware of.

To celebrate today being the day the game unlocks on Steam and the Epic Store, the developers have decided to throw a livestream party for real squirrels, with the help of a YouTube channel called Backyard Buddies, which basically looks like it's doing the whole Springwatch thing where you can watch animals come to life. Yes, shout out to your aunt and uncle who own 15 million birdhouses and take in hedgehogs, the games are now geared towards them.
We've embedded the show below, so hopefully you can watch it for yourself. There are a few areas where the squirrels can romp around, which have little plastic guns in them, because that's what video games are like. In the one I'm watching, there's a toy car with an assault rifle next to a food bowl, and the stream runs between that and a larger garden area with several feeders – one of which is next to a revolver – and a giant sniper rifle.
Overall, the squirrels seem pretty unfazed by the presence of the firearms and are just doing normal squirrel things, which is pretty decent. For example, I just watched one sniff another where its tail meets its butt. The other squirrel didn't seem too pleased and scurried away. Ahh, nature.
Since, as far as I know, Steam developer broadcasts of this kind are not saved anywhere after completion so that they can be viewed again later, we can only hope that at least the highlights are uploaded somewhere for posterity.
