SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — A man is believed to have hidden in the bushes to avoid arrest after driving a car to Scranton to “shoot down” a residential building, police said.
On Wednesday, Scranton police said they received information that a man was on his way to a residence on Myrtle Street in the Hill neighborhood with the intent of “gunning down the house.”
The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Steven Brannigan, was reportedly involved in another domestic incident earlier in the day in Luzerne County and may have been connected to a stolen Toyota Prius from Wilkes-Barre that had a “BOLO” (Be on the Lookout) issued for it. The same vehicle was headed toward Scranton, police said.
After the vehicle was spotted in South Scranton, an attempt was made to stop the vehicle, but it continued toward Mulberry Street and North Irving Avenue before the driver stopped the vehicle and fled on foot, police said.
Police and the Pennsylvania State Police Aviation Unit searched the area once they were able to narrow down the location. Officers then found an open door to a residence on Schultz Court, and further searches led to the location of Brannigan, who was reportedly hiding outside in the thick brush.
Brannigan was taken into custody and charged with receiving stolen goods, escape, terroristic threats and harassment. He was lodged in the Lackawanna County Jail.
