KANSAS CITY, Kansas (KCTV) – The teenager who was hit by a car outside Children's Mercy Park has died from her injuries, police say.
Kansas City, Kansas, police announced Thursday, August 29, that the teen who was hit by a car near Children's Mercy Park Tuesday night died as a result of her injuries. She was identified as Summer Lynn, 17, of Kansas City, Missouri.
Emergency crews said they were called to the intersection of Village Parkway West and France Family Dr. in front of Children's Mercy Park around 9 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a collision. When they arrived, they found Lynn had attempted to cross the street but had been struck by a northbound vehicle.
Police found that the driver of the vehicle was still on site and cooperating. Meanwhile, Lynn was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Doctors later pronounced her dead.
The collision occurred during the weather-delayed start of a US Open Cup match at Children's Mercy Park.
