IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – A Cedar Rapids woman was arrested Monday after police say she was found in an Iowa City apartment with a pellet gun and threatening to kill her mother's boyfriend.
Shortly after 3 p.m., officers were called to the 900 block of Willow Street in Iowa City because a person was running through the halls with a rifle and said he was chasing someone.
When they arrived, police found 42-year-old Debra Johnson with a .22 caliber air rifle.
Officials said witnesses told them Johnson said she would kill her mother's boyfriend.
According to police, Johnson was visibly drunk, had bloodshot, watery eyes and smelled of alcohol. He also committed several crimes while armed with the air rifle.
When police attempted to arrest Johnson, officers said she refused to comply, resisted arrest, and intentionally kicked one of the officers.
Johnson is accused of the following:
- Go armed with intent
- Drunkenness in public
- Possession or carrying of dangerous weapons
- Person who is not authorized to carry dangerous weapons
- Interference with official acts
- Attacks on people in certain professions
