According to a Charlotte police affidavit, a parent threatened to fire a gun before the Oakdale Elementary School bell rang for the first time.
Police say Shanique Williamson, 30, got into a fight with another parent in the parking lot at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday morning – the third day of school after summer break – and threatened to shoot at the parent's car. She returned after 9 a.m. and told officers that this was the second time she had brought the gun to the northwest Charlotte elementary school, which has about 450 students, court records show.
Williamson had officers search her vehicle, where they found a black Glock 30 .45 caliber behind her passenger seat. They charged her with two counts of possession of a firearm on school property.
One person was arrested without incident and no students were involved, according to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department report, which did not name a suspect. The report also said the fight did not occur on school property, but an arrest report said Williamson and the other parent were in the school's parking lot.
In court Thursday, District Judge Fritz Mercer Jr. set bail at $5,000, according to entries on eCourts, the Mecklenburg County Courthouse's online system. A day earlier, court documents show, Judge April Phifer had recommended bail at $10,000.
