4 blush trends for fall 2024 that will enhance your makeup look

It's no secret that blush has been all the rage in the beauty world lately. This summer in particular, everyone's favorite beauty influencers, celebs, and makeup artists seem to have been applying layers of rosy pigment, whether for a more natural flush or intense drape. If you've just started opting for more tinted cheeks, don't worry. The look is definitely here to stay, but the cooler months will require some adjustment in tones and shades—as is the case with most fall style changes. In fact, fall 2024 blush trends are all about adding warmth and depth, but you'll still see some familiar shades from seasons past.

Not sure what to look for? TZR asked four celebrity makeup artists to give you the lowdown on all the blush trends you should try this fall. And there's something for every taste. If you're not into a lot of color, the trendy “blonzing” technique will be your best friend. For those still clinging to summer, the sun-kissed, flushed look will still be in style. Then there are the dark berry tones that exude moody energy for lovers of the spooky season. And lilac is the unexpected seasonal shade that will win over even the most skeptical beauty veterans.

Below you will find an overview of all the important blush trends for autumn as well as the best product recommendations for recreating the looks.

Blonder

Blush is typically ultra bright and glowing in the warmer months, so now is the time to go in the opposite direction, according to makeup artist Shanell Sorrells. The beauty expert predicts that fall blush trends will focus on applying warm tones using the “blonzing” method, which involves using blush that doubles as a bronzer. The makeup artist recommends using more reddish-brown brick tones to really capture both the natural flush of a blush and the depth of a bronzer. “This trend will continue over the next few months of using blush that perfects the color of the blush and the depth of the bronzer. [trend] gives the skin a more subtle, yet sculpted look without looking overly red,” says Sorells. “Be sure to apply the bronze blush close to where you would apply your bronzer, or layer it on top for a warm, crisp look.”

Red cheeks

There's no doubt that the hottest blush trend in summer 2024 was naturally flushed cheeks and high-placed combinations. According to celebrity makeup artist Shadi Malek, the look won't be going away in the fall. The “very Sabrina Carpenter-esque” blush style features a bright, warm pink applied in an upward motion toward the temples. This creates a very toned and lifted look. “I think everyone loves the youthfulness that blush brings to the skin [because] “You feel alive, your eyes light up and you definitely feel more feminine,” says Malek. To recreate the look, try Kosas Baked Blush in Blissed, Rare Beauty Liquid Blush in Happy or Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Blurring Serum in Hibiscus.

Berry tones

Fall is all about darker shades—you'll see a lot of cranberry-colored clothing or the trendy black cherry manicure. To complement this mood, choose a blush in a similar shade. Jamie Greenberg, celebrity makeup artist and founder of JamieMakeup, describes this shade as a “cozy” and “moody” color that looks stunning on all skin tones. She also notes that like the “flushed cheeks” trend mentioned above, we'll see product placed higher on the cheekbones. “Using a tapered/angled brush or makeup sponge, apply the berry shade of your choice along your temple and up to the cheeks,” says Greenberg. “This creates a bright, rosy fall look that adds contour and color to the face.” The makeup artist also notes that you'll see the tint in lipsticks and lip glosses, too, meaning you can create a fun, coordinated moment that perfectly captures the energy of the season.

Purple

“This shade is all over TikTok, so the secret to purple blush is obviously out,” says Lauren Bridges, makeup artist and founder of the Barbara Jean Agency. The key to finding the right shade of purple is figuring out the depth of your undertones. “We know some undertones can be a mix of warm and cool tones, so you have to be specific here,” says Bridges. You'll want to focus on determining the amount of yellow or gold in your undertones to find the perfect balance of pink and purple. “Start with light purples with pink overlays,” she says.
