Crime in Chicago: Woman dies after being shot in the head while fleeing from gunmen

A woman was fatally shot in the head while fleeing from armed men in Park Manor on Thursday morning.

At about 11:11 a.m., a 27-year-old woman and a 30-year-old woman were sitting in a car in the 7000 block of South Vernon when two armed men approached them, police said.

The 27-year-old driver sped away and one of the men fired shots that hit her in the head.

She was taken to a nearby hospital where she died.

No further injuries were reported and no suspects were arrested.

The detectives from Area One are investigating.
