O. With district heating, heating and hot water are available at the touch of a button – virtually ready for use – 365 days a year. To ensure that this remains the case in the future, there is a new apprenticeship as a district heating technician.
The district heating technology apprenticeship provides the know-how to create sketches, pipe and assembly plans, to make connections by welding or soldering, and to program, maintain, seal and prepare repairs for systems. District heating is popular because, among other things, the transfer station between the district heating network and the local heating system requires very little space and no heating materials such as pellets need to be stored. The connection costs are subsidized. In addition to apartments and residential buildings, businesses and public buildings are also continuously being connected to the district heating network. The supply rate for public buildings in Linz is already 90 percent.
