Ukrainian authorities report deaths in the Donetsk and Kharkiv area
According to Ukrainian sources, at least five people were killed by Russian shelling in the city of Chasiv in the Donetsk region controlled by Moscow troops. “The Russians fired early in the morning, and shells hit a private house and a multi-storey building,” the Ukrainian head of the administration of the contested Donetsk region, Vadym Filashkin, said on Telegram.
“Chasiv Yar is a city where normal life has not been possible for more than two years. Don't make yourselves a Russian target! Get to safety!” said Filashkin. In view of the Russian troop advance in the Donetsk region, he recently ordered evacuations in dozens of towns. The Pokrovsk region is particularly hotly contested, and banks there will also be closed from this Monday.
The Russian Defense Ministry had previously reported a further advance in the Donetsk region. The village of Kirowe had been captured there, it said. The information cannot be independently verified. But Ukrainian military observers had also confirmed that Russian troops had again gained territory in the region.
Authorities also reported new Russian shelling in the Kharkiv region. At least two civilians were killed in the village of Cherkaska Losova, military governor Oleh Synjehubov said on Telegram. Earlier, a heavy Russian airstrike on a high-rise building in Kharkiv left at least 7 dead and 97 injured.
