According to the police, unknown persons set fire to garbage on Rigaer Straße shortly after midnight.
While the emergency services were assisting the alerted fire brigade in extinguishing the fire, they were shot at with fireworks by three people.
The trio then fled to a residential building and continued firing pyrotechnics from the roof. In addition, paving stones were now also thrown at the officers from a height.

A police officer was hit in the shoulder by a firecracker. He suffered acoustic trauma as a result of the explosion.
Two other emergency workers injured
Another policeman was hit on the helmet by a paving stone. The violent impact caused a hematoma on his head.
However, both emergency services continued their duties. During the firefighting operations, they suffered from smoke poisoning. They were taken to hospital by emergency services for inpatient treatment.
The suspects fled undetected. The State Security Police of the Berlin State Criminal Police Office is investigating.
