The police drew a positive conclusion from the course of the approximately 30 small and large cultural events and district festivals in Dortmund over the weekend. The police, the public order office and private security services were deployed at these events in the city districts and in the city center to show their presence, to be approachable for citizens and to be able to intervene quickly in special cases. The riot police were also deployed. There were no outstanding events.

24,300 visitors took part in the Festival of Lights in Westfalenpark on Saturday (31 August 2024) alone. Apart from a verbal argument between two families and several fence climbers identified by security who did not want to pay the entrance fee, the Festival of Lights was peaceful.

5,000 citizens attended the traditional Münsterstrasse festival with lots of information and stands from clubs and institutions in the Nordstadt. From the police's point of view, this festival, which was organized by many volunteers – like the numerous other events on Friday and Saturday in Dortmund – was peaceful. The Nordstadt police are active in numerous Nordstadt networks and were on site.

At a well-attended district festival in Aplerbecke, the police checked 93 people. 40 were searched. The police and the public order office were also on duty in Aplerbeck. Contact the authorities with 23 parents whose young children could not cope with the consumption of alcohol. On Saturday evening, the emergency services treated a 17-year-old who was found in a helpless position after drinking alcohol. After an assault (punch) on Saturday, the police are investigating an adult.

From the police's point of view, it was a weekend in which many families set out to sell at the large number of events in Dortmund. The vast majority of festival-goers behaved peacefully at the 30 events.
