HandOfBlood's company releases its 2nd game on Steam

INSTINCT3 is HandOfBlood's company that focuses primarily on influencers. Since this year, however, it has also been a publisher for indie games. After the first publisher success, strategy game Terrascape, their second game has now been released on Steam and Megaloot has been well received.

What kind of game is Megaloot? Megaloot is a Inventory management roguelike RPGThis means that you have to try to create strong builds in different runs using items. To do this, you have to manage your inventory so that synergies arise. HandofBlood presented the game live in front of thousands of viewers and wanted to go in a completely different direction.

Megaloot looks like a pixelated dungeon crawler: you select items for your inventory and your hero then tries to defeat the monsters in the dungeon.

The genre of Inventory management roguelike RPG is popular on Steam, by the way. It's a relaxed game principle, as you can't actively influence the fight. You can only adjust and restructure your own inventory.

The players are happy, but one thing is missing

How is the game received on Steam? Since its release on Steam on August 30, 2024, the game has collected almost 600 reviews. 87% of them are positive. The community particularly praises the captivating gameplay loop and the many build options. (As of September 1, 2024)

  • SonicFinger: Damn it, it's addictive. I only play a quick round and suddenly five hours are gone… And I'll do it again.
  • xL3g3nd_: This game is definitely a contender for Indie Game of the Year. I particularly respect the solo developer's achievement. Not everyone can create so much variety and so much fun. A clear recommendation.
  • Jarlyk: The main gameplay loop is solid, but the lack of meta progression goals combined with the fact that each run is an “endless” run wears off after a while.

There is also a criticism that is often mentioned. Many players feel that meta-progression is missing: there is nothing to upgrade or achievements to achieve. In each run, it is all about getting further and further in order to beat your own high score.

On SteamDB you can see that the game had a peak of 5800 simultaneous players. On x.com the developer celebrated that after just 6 hours they had already reached 5000 players and 10,000 sales worldwide.

How much does the game cost on Steam? The game normally costs €9.75. They currently have a 10% offer. Until September 6th you can buy the game for €8.77. Have you played the game yet? Then tell us in the comments.

If you are looking for more games in the Megaloot genre, here is another recommendation: In a new game on Steam, the right preparation is more important than the fight and it won't let me go
