The draw for the second round of the DFB Cup is coming up! Almost all Bundesliga teams are still in the competition, only VfL Bochum had to throw in the towel at the start. Who will face FC Bayern? Who will face defending champions Bayer Leverkusen?

DFB Cup: These teams are still in the competition
A lot of Bundesliga teams, some second division clubs, at least two third division teams and one team from the regional league are still in the race.

This is how the DFB Cup draw works
Unlike during the week for the Champions League and Europa League, the cup draw will proceed as usual. The teams are divided into two pots. Pot 1 contains the clubs from the first and second Bundesliga, the rest form the second pot.
As long as possible, the pairings will be made up of one team from each of the two pots. Once all the representatives from pot 2 (there are only three) have been drawn, all the tickets from the first pot will then be drawn.
It is therefore entirely possible that two Bundesliga teams will meet in the second round. Otherwise, the only thing to note is that the team drawn first has home advantage.

Date: 2nd round of the DFB Cup
The second round will be played on October 29th and 30th, on a Tuesday and a Wednesday. The round of 16 will continue in early December, and all other matches will take place in 2025.
