Cologne | At around 8:40 a.m. today, September 1, 2024, officers from the Körne police station in Dortmund noticed two patrol cars on fire. Arrests were made, including a 20-year-old woman from Cologne.

The officers put out the fires on the patrol cars themselves with fire extinguishers. According to the Dortmund police, traces of attempted arson were found on a third patrol car. The officers assessed their own video surveillance. They identified two female suspects. The officers found them at Dortmund Central Station. The suspected arsonists are said to be a woman from Dortmund and a woman from Cologne, both 20 years old.

According to the officials, there is currently no indication of religious or politically motivated arson. One of the vehicles was written off due to a mark in the engine compartment. The other two vehicles only suffered minor damage. The officials in Dortmund estimate the total damage at around 60,000 euros.
