On September 1, 2024, all political interest will be focused on the state elections in eastern Germany. This is because not only the state elections in Thuringia will take place there on that day, but also the state elections in Saxony. In view of this double election, the public broadcasters ARD and ZDF have put together a comprehensive television and live stream offering to provide voters and the interested public with comprehensive information.
The election parties in Thuringia live on ARD
The ARD is offering a diverse program for the state elections in Thuringia. This begins at 5.40 p.m. with live coverage by the ARD reporter on site at the election parties in Thuringia. This allows viewers to follow live how the politicians react to their party's results.
Meanwhile, Jörg Schönenberg will be informing viewers of the special election broadcast about forecasts, projections and surveys relating to these results. The reporters will also be travelling around political Berlin, where the results of the state election in Thuringia will probably soon be just as eagerly awaited as in Erfurt.
Later in the evening, the talk show “Caren Miosga” will be broadcast at 10 p.m., in which the invited politicians will discuss the preliminary results and their significance. The ARD broadcasts are also available to viewers via live stream via the ARD media library.
State elections in Thuringia: ZDF shows special broadcast live on TV and stream
ZDF also started its coverage of the state elections in Thuringia before the polling stations closed with its own special broadcast at 5.30 p.m. ZDF reports live from the studio in Erfurt and welcomes a large number of state and federal politicians who discuss the political impact of the election.
From 7 p.m., the first projections of the results will be presented as part of the news format “ZDFheute”. As usual, all of ZDF’s special broadcasts can be watched both on television and free of charge via the live stream via the ZDF media library.
“Berlin Round” on the Thuringia election on ZDF
The “Berlin Round” on ZDF, in which the results are discussed with political representatives from all parties, begins this time after “ZDFheute” at 7.35 p.m. The program will be moderated by Diana Zimmermann, the head of the ZDF capital studio. The guests will again be top politicians from all parties, who will speak to each other about the consequences of the election results.
