Man charged with premeditated murder in Brampton shooting

A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Brampton that left another man dead, Peel Regional Police said.

On Friday, officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in the driveway of a residential area near St. Tropez Court and Millstone Drive at 12:55 a.m.

When officers arrived, a man was found dead with “obvious signs of trauma.” In a news release issued Saturday, investigators said they will not release the victim's identity at the request of the family.

Police said they arrested a Brampton man in his 20s late Friday night but have not yet identified him. The accused is charged with first-degree murder.

“While the motive for the shooting remains under investigation, investigators believe this shooting involved a single individual and was not a random shooting,” the press release said.

Anyone with information related to this investigation is asked to contact investigators.
