PATERSON – A woman is being sought after she stabbed her four-year-old niece multiple times and was hospitalized, according to published reports.
Police found the underage victim around 4 p.m. Friday in a Paterson home near 10th and East 24th streets, Passaic County prosecutors said.
The four-year-old had been stabbed several times and was quickly taken to hospital.
Faherem LaSane, the girl's father, told ABC 7 Eyewitness News that she suffered lung and liver damage as a result of the stabbing.
HARVEY CEDARS – Rescue crews arrived at a Long Beach Island beach Sunday afternoon where police called a “tragic boating accident.”
Law enforcement sources told New Jersey 101.5 that a young girl was dismembered by the engine of a boat driven by her father. Several people on board the boat were traumatized by the incident, reported NBC Philadelphia, which was the first to report details of the tragedy.
Harvey Cedars police did not provide any details about the incident in a message on their Facebook page and referred questions to the State Police Marine Services Bureau.

Demand for food pantry assistance has skyrocketed across the Garden State as families struggle to keep up with rising prices for their everyday necessities.
Between 2019 and 2023, the Consumer Price Index for all food items increased 25%, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Inflation has slowed, but prices remain at levels that can be unaffordable for families, even those with two incomes.
Many New Jersey families are turning to food pantries for help for the first time in their history.
“There's absolutely no shame in this – we don't want anyone not knowing where the next meal is coming from for them or their children,” said Elizabeth McCarthy, president and CEO of the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. “They're just struggling to make it to the next paycheck.”
And every year in New Jersey, the need increases during the summer – students are no longer entitled to one or two meals a day, as they would be during the school year.
“And we're also seeing donations go down,” McCarthy said. “I think it's just not as front and center as it is during the holidays.”
TABERNACLE – A 42-year-old school aide has been charged with using social media to lure a student into having sex with him, authorities said.
Michael Van Kline of Lumberton was arrested Thursday on charges of third-degree child endangerment.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Van Kline has worked as an educational assistant for the Lenape Regional High School District since 2013.
According to the Burlington County District Attorney's Office, Van Kline contacted the student through social media and sent her sexual messages.
Van Kline persuaded the teenager to send him nude photos, according to prosecutors. He also suggested that the two meet for sex.
Authorities said Van Kline was released after being taken to the Burlington County Jail for a court hearing.
ATLANTIC CITY – A former professional boxer has been sentenced to more than two decades in prison for stabbing an Egg Harbor Township man to death at the Ocean Casino Resort.
Andrew Osborne, 35, of Philadelphia was sentenced Thursday to 25 years in prison. He must serve 85 percent of his sentence before being eligible for parole, the Atlantic County District Attorney's Office said.
Osborne pleaded guilty earlier this year to first-degree manslaughter in the killing of 47-year-old Brian Wilkinson of Egg Harbor Township.
Wilkinson's body was found in his hotel room at the Ocean Casino Resort on September 23, 2022.
